Kate Sellen

Postdoctoral Researcher


Kate Sellen has been involved in digital design since 1998, working in many different industry and government settings. She graduated from Georgia Tech with her Masters in 2000 and is currently completing her PhD in Human Factors in Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, under Professor Mark Chignell at the Interactive Media Lab. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Design at OCAD University with the Strategic Foresight & Innovation Program, and is an active member of the Knowledge Media Design Institute (KMDI), University of Toronto. Having an interest in digital innovation in medical settings, Kate joined the TAGlab in September 2012 to conduct postdoctoral research. In collaboration with Revera Living, she lead the continued research and development of technologies to combat isolation in both long term and home care settings. She also worked to adapt the ALLT ebook technology to help digitally communicate health and wellness information to seniors.
