The Technologies for Aging Gracefully Lab (TAGlab) was founded by Ronald Baecker in 2008. We design aids, systems, and experiences that support aging throughout the life course with the goal of fostering a sense of community, identity, and autonomy for our users.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Designing Innovative Solutions<\/h3>\n

Building from insights we develop through our research process, the TAGteam strives to convert knowledge into workable prototypes.<\/p>\n

Drawing on the skills and experience of programmers, user experience experts, and industrial designers, TAGlab produces high quality prototypes that allow us to field-test our research questions and create practical solutions for everyday life.<\/p>\n

These prototypes go through an iterative process, applying layers of new understanding, resulting in products that are easy, intuitive and delightful to use.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Identifying Problems<\/h3>\n

Older adults are underserved in the domain of personal computing. The TAGteam believes that carefully designed technology can help to close this gap while, at the same time, address common social and psychological issues faced by older adults.<\/p>\n

The TAGteam is comprised of computer scientists, social scientists, designers, and health care professionals. Together, we conduct in-depth research on the social contexts of aging, using ethnographic methodologies to develop rich understandings of how we age, the factors that affect that process, and how technological advances can be used to improve the quality of life.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Changing Lives<\/h3>\n
